my thoughts are near enough; http://drownedinsound.com/releases/9609/reviews/1713424-battles-atlas, but replace 'atlas' with 'ice cream'
the artwork's awesome though
Open to anyone, I personally think its as much of a travesty as the cover for "Angles"
Angles was just a load of shit squares
I love it.
grows by roughly half a point after every listen so far though
the alt tags aren't working
"alt tags" ?
I heard it a week or so ago on a pitchfork link. I think it's awesome
Stunning unexpected mad blast of skewed pop energy.
Roll on the ICA and the Gary Numan collaboration. What an amazing band this is ...
sounds like if aidan moffat fronted vampire weekend
Not as good as even the weaker tracks on the new Parts & Labor. Never understood the adulation for this band. One of the least billboard worth songs I've heard in a while.
Just didn't do it for me, even after repeated listens... it just sounded cluttered in places as opposed to the sensation of instruments dancing around each other that many of their previous tracks provided.
I love it. I loved Mirrored and if this track is anything to go by I've love the new one. My only criticism of the song is that it is a little too long, repeating the main theme in the middle for too long before entering it's final section. Although a decent quality version might unearth some nuances that give it more weight.
But overall, it's wickedly catchy, quirky, accomplished and sounds fresh for them. A good album taster (hopefully).
But I'm guessing hearing it in the context of the album will improve things.
It's brilliant, sounds like an electronic sugar rush
it's good but it sounds like it was made by clowns. that makes me uneasy.
with a bit of added Len Steel My Sunshine.
If I was a music supervisor for a Skins sci-fi spin-off where there was an intergalactic ska-pop-punk club scene in cyber-wales I'd be all over this.
