I've not read this yet but I bet it features disparaging references to either Belle & Sebastian, Sonic Youth or Los Campesinos.
And possibly a claim that Daphne and Celeste were ace.
Plus the moral hypocrisy of a white middle-class journalist attacking the white middle-classness of a scene that's made him respected by white-middle class "alternative" people who take a comfort in being abused about how white and middle-class they are.
Ultimately any valid point he makes is negated by the fact that if music journalists hadn't embraced the "authenticity over talent" mantra he's attacking he'd have never been employed as a writer in the first place and sure as hell wouldn't be employed as one now.
and then making mischief.
And they fall for it every time. It's like shooting fish in a barrel.
even if his entire career is an in-joke it was barely funny the first time round and is now pretty embarrassing. I dont think thats the case anyway (the in-joke thing), you rarely see someone up in arms about what he has said just that he keeps getting paid to say it.
Problem is, a million hair-trigger kids have responded and now he'll be kept on to rewrite it next week as well.
