he also appears to have turned into Vigo from Ghostbusters 2, at least based on that photo.
until they realise in a year or two that everyone is getting bluray so it doesnt matter too much. what bothers me is more that bluray doesnt allow for music on the go...but someone will rip it all to high quality mp3 within a day of release, so who cares?
It's a good excuse to buy a PS3.
stupid idea though
and I want to kill myself.
I want Neil to come on and say "Hey guys...everything will be OK."
'The first Neil Young Archive release will be a 10 Blu-ray Disc set
available this fall from Reprise/Warner Bros. Records, covering
Young's career from 1963-1972.'
if they do it properly:
'we will be able to add
content to already released Blu-ray Disc archive volumes by
downloading it, whether it is music, film or vintage recording
sessions, recently found photographs, or other archival materials that
were located after the release of that volume. Users will be able to
download any of these archival materials and they will automatically
be assigned to their place in the Chronology timeline."'
he said "this fall" for several years now?
I want an actual date!
ready since 1988. it's the chinese democracy of archive releases.
its pretty clear that Neil enjoys confounding his fans expectations and just does whatever the fuck he wants. I dont think i'll buy a blue-ray thing just yet.
what did he say in the webcast?
his marketing dept alternately sound as if he's been dead for years or his best years have long gone? The ad for Living With War said "it's his most talked about album in years"... he PAYS these fuckers to say this about him!??!
This a good place to do a WTS...?
''Ten Blu-ray disks doesn't lend itself to P2P,' he pointed out. 'They [the fans] are going to do that anyway - people are going to copy all this music. We don't have to deal with that. All we're doing is supplying the mother-lode, trying to give them quality whether they want it or not. You can degrade it as far as you want, we just don't want our name on it.''
Come hear(sic and see what Java technology means to Neil Young".
this project? Blu-ray discs is a terrible idea. I hardly know anyone who owns a player that plays them.
I hope they just get ripped into Flac and pirated around the net.
everyone will have blue-ray in a few years. its won the format battle. he's doing the exact right thing, and he's even said he thinks its fine for everyone to rip it in high quality mp3 and share it.
