Obviously *The Be Be See *subscribe to the red-top sub-editors' gospel that there is no such thing as a bad pun. Not only is their band name a take on Auntie itself and the band members' nicknames references to various channels, but all their songs are cunningly punned off other TV networks' names. 'You K Gold', did you Be Be See it?
Why? Well it's either a satirical take on the vacuous commodity that is the majority of modern television or it's three punners who are going to run out of gags as soon as they realise that Discovery Home and Leisure is difficult to make phonetic.
The thing is, the gimmicks really distract from the music – 'cause it's ace. End-of-pier organs frame escapist pop lyrics (“Get the sack and get in debt, do a million things we'll never forget”) that make_ 'You K Gold'_ that rare song that you could play ten times and still dance to with a ghoulish gurn on your face. Superb.
