Once derided (fairly, some might argue) for looking like tweed-clad kiddy-fiddlers, The Young Knives have the last laugh here and finally deliver on all their kooky promise with a single that takes a quite ridiculous premise and turns it into alt-pop gold. Sonically, it's Gang Of Four covering Parklife but the story is pure Jerry Springer.
So your girlfriend's parents don't approve of you... what do you do? A. Sulk for a while before insisting you don't visit her at home, B. Try extra hard to impress them or C. Give her old man a damn good pasting.
Of course, most sane people would opt for A or B but it wouldn't make for good pop. Thankfully, our favourite kitchen utensils pick C and 'She's Attracted To' is an absolute gem, the kind of song that doesn't come along very often. “You were screaming at your mum and I was punching your dad," hollers Henry Dartnall. Me? I was just punching the air in delight.
