Ah Maxeemo Park. Let us count the ways in which we think you're great. Well, there's 'Apply Some Pressure', 'The Coast Is Always Changing' and 'The Night I lost My Head'; all the singles so far have ticked all the boxes. A collection of uber-literate pop thrills, like.
To that discography, add 'Graffiti'. Not quite as gut-bustingly brilliant as 'Apply Some Pressure', but still enough of a humour/art/good chord progression thrill to give it a pair of air-touching thumbs. The chorus of "I'll do graffiti if you sing to me in French" is of course, nonsense, but so is that refrain about "crossing the streams" which is either a glorious nod to Ghostbusters, or... not. It doesn't matter. Gone are the times of Papa Roach and garage rock, enjoy a slice of pop toast liberally dribbling with art-butter. What a terrible simile. Fuck it, 'Graffiti' is great.
