Ho hum. There's nothing worse to a critic's ears than an average record. I mean, what exactly do you say about it? "It doesn't particularly rock my world, but then again it's far from Radio 1's daytime playlist." _The Faculty, right now, are average. Yes, their retro new-wave ways - all 80s tones, as crisp as polyester sheets - could yet be honed into something special, something akin to all those other once-average bands filling column inches all over the gaff. But right now, right _here, they're average. I played this single twice, all the way through each time. I did this in the space of, say, 15 minutes. It was pleasant enough, but do I remember anything in particular? Anything?
No, because nobody remembers the average. Nobody remembers pleasant.
Remember, bands: fortune has forever favoured the brave. Take a risk, today.
