Some bands and their sound are defined by area. The Seattle scene, the N.Y. garage rock revival are just 2 examples. So, you listen to Face For Radio and first thoughts are 'American!' with a sound and vocal that is reminiscent of At The Drive-In. Well, you are wrong! Tight harmonies with thumping bass lines and real energy kinda like Face Tomorrow... perhaps Dutch? Not a chance! This bunch of whirling intensity and potential are from Wolverhampton!
The comparisons above may well be deemed as lazy but they can not be dismissed as inaccurate. Direct comparisons are drawn with FFRs' lead vocals and Cedric Bixler and rightly so because the guy has the intensity and focus to be as good as the man himself (although not quite the same quality barnet!) From opener 'Rivers Run' something special is rumbling away, unrelenting and abrasive. 'Fade Away' (download the full MP3 here) shows the band in it's full light, all juxtaposed chords and sharp stabbing vocals melded together to create a track that is one of THE stand out points of 2003 for me.
With the US invasion seemingly increasing with more and more monotonous 'alternative' acts stock piling in bargain bins around the country, the UK unsigned scene gets stronger with each passing day and these guys could well be at the forefront if they want it bad enough!
