Blah Rubble Bicycle Cubs Fill Jack White's Slot
sclit by Septic Clit July 31st, 2003
Boring, boring, boring... nothing to see here...BRMC play Reading/Leeds.

Because poor old blues rip-off merchant Jack White of the White Shites has bust up his finger, they're not playing Reading and Leeds no more, as previously reported. They've been replaced by a band with one less song than the average festival punter will know, tho they will be ripping off a slightly different era of music to most of the bill.

Anyway, yeah, Mean Fiddler "are pleased to announce" that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will fill the White Stripes slot at this year’s Reading Rock... whoops, I mean, The Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals. The band will play the Main Stage before headliners Blur on Saturday 23rd August at The Carling Weekend: Reading Festival and Sunday 24th August at The Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival.

Here, we don't want it, have some marketing spiel...

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club release a new single 'Stop' on August 18th, which is followed by their second LP, 'Take Them On On Your Own' on August 25th. Their debut LP, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, released in 2001, was a critical and commercial highlight of the year achieving gold status in the UK. The band also won an NME Award for Best Video for the 'Whatever Happened to My Rock ‘n’ Roll' single and the album was featured in many of the year’s best LP’s lists.

DiScuss: What other overhyped band who've had one big single and an average selling album which was full of filler tracks will be added to the bill next? Can you say New Order and Spacemen 3? Am I wrong, are BRMC the greatest band in the history of the world ever and worthy of such a high billing on the biggest festival of the year?
