Anyone with a morsel of knowledge about music at the moment loves and/or respects the wonderous world of Brighton-based label Fat Cat Records, home of twinkly lo-fi electronicaists Sigur Rós, Múm, Jap-Noize-Eaters Xinlisupreme and underground gems like Set Fire to Flames, Black Dice and Giddy Motors. The label has also been a temporary residence for Bjork, Kid606 and loads more...
To celebrate six brilliant years of great music, the retrospective 'Branches & Routes', featuring rare, remixed & unreleased tracks is out in July [tracklisting below]. And to promote the release and concrete the label's place in music history, they're putting on a two-day festival @ Union Chapel, in Islington, London. The line-ups are still to be confirmed but are "very likely" (accordian to the pr peeps) to be:
August
1st Sigur Ros, Fennesz, Animal Collective
2nd Múm, David Grubbs, Mice Parade
Ticket info and all that jazz is still be announced, but get your diary emptied.
