Do you ever feel that a whole remix album is a bit overblown? Y'know, especially if the source material is less than overwhelming? Yeah, we sometimes get that feeling too. Perhaps an EP would be better. Cut the fat out and all that.
Good. That's exactly what Hot Chip have done, or will do, in releasing a remix EP entitled We Have Remixes. Yes, it's a fucking awful title for what it is, but at least it's functional. A little too functional. More exciting, however, is whose work features on it. It seems like we can't go more than about 47 seconds without mentioning Caribou recently, and that isn't going to change just yet because he pops up.
Look below to see what else happens on the four tracks:
- Hand Me Down Your Love - (Todd Edwards Micro Chip Remix) 6.46
- We Have Love - (Hot City Remix) 4.59
- Brothers - (Caribou Remix) 5.09
- Take It In - (Osborne Remix) 7.16
Of course, Joe Goddard from Hot Chip is at hand to let us know what he thinks about the people remixing his music:
“These are some of our favourite producers, people that we have been following for years and have been friends with for years as well in some cases.”
VFM? It comes out on Parlophone on September 6. 2010. Which is this year. I'm sure it'll get blogged about quite a bit. Until then just listen to One Life Stand repeatedly. Over and over. Caribou previously remixed Hot Chip, a track you can listen to below:
