Listen: Download Phosphorescent - 'Mermaid Parade'
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater April 28th, 2010

Matthew Houck releases his latest album as Phosphorescent in the next month or so. He's already given away a track or two from it and today there's another free download for y'all. The forthcoming record is called Here’s To Taking It Easy and the slice of it now freely available is the rhyming 'Mermaid Parade' which, we assume, is just across the street from Billy Bragg's Mermaid Avenue. We'll have to check the A-Z.

You can get your hands on 'Mermaid Parade' by clicking here. Here's To Taking It Easy's release date has now been put back however, it being available from Monday May 24 through Dead Oceans.

Tracklist below:

  1. It’s Hard To Be Humble (When You’re From Alabama)
  2. Nothing Was Stolen (Love Me Foolishly)
  3. We’ll Be Here Soon
  4. The Mermaid Parade
  5. I Don’t Care If There’s Cursing
  6. Tell Me Baby (Have You Had Enough)
  7. Hej, Me I’m Light
  8. Heaven, Sittin’ Down
  9. Los Angeles

Houck plays a handful of dates in the UK to support the album. The record features a line-up which is replicated in the live scene for the project - with Scott Stapleton, Jeff Bailey, Chris Marine, Jesse Anderson Ainslie, Ricky Jay Jackson, John Natche and Heather Macintosh. Catch him at these places:

UK Dates:

June:
2 - London, ICA
3 - Manchester, Deaf Institute
4 - Glasgow, Captain's Rest
5 - Birmingham, Hare & Hounds
