Scottish indie-pop legends Belle & Sebastian are to curate one of the ATP December 2010 weekends, which will be named 'Bowlie 2' for obvious reasons. Reasonably obvious, anyway. The weekend will run from December 10-12 at Butlins in Minehead, Somerset and will mark the end of the year-long celebrations of 10 years of All Tomorrow's Parties in the most apt, and quite possibly brilliant, way possible.
If you aren't in the know about why it's called 'Bowlie 2', well just let me tell you. Way back in 1999 there was a musical-social event organised at Pontin's, Camber Sands which was curated by Belle & Sebastian, called the Bowlie Weekender. This is what ATP grew from, the first seeds if you will. Its daddy. THE Daddy.
Stuart Murdoch and the gang (I forget their names...) will pick around 40 bands to play the weekend, with the first announcements being unleashed on Monday, March 29, so just a few days to wait. The curators for the other weekend - which takes place from 3-5 December - will be confirmed on April 9 and, as with recent times, there will be the In Between Days set-up, where you can choose to stay at Butlins between each event with various musical delights and festivities to please you and your friends.
Tickets for Bowlie 2 are £165 for room only and £175 for self-catering. As said, they go on sale on Monday. A limited number of pre-sale tickets are available to ATP priority members and the B&S fanclub and mailing list. Click here for more info.
