You may have heard that Speech Debelle walked away with the Mercury Prize 2009 for her album Speech Therapy, a decision which surprised some, pleased many, and probably downright annoyed the rest.
She beat off competition from more heavily tipped artists such as La Roux, The Horrors, Florence + the Machine, Bat For Lashes and Kasabian, something which has no doubt pleased the people over at Big Dada - her record label - especially after Roots Manuva's nomination in 2002 where he missed out to Miss Dynamite.
Anyway, should you want to watch her in action on her current tour, you can do so at the following places:
5 Sep - Bristol, Colston Hall support to Roni Size orchestra show £18
26 Sep - Sheffield, Plug £7
27 Sep - Manchester, Night & Day £8
28 Sep - Leeds Uni - Mine £8
1 Oct - Glasgow, Arches £8
2 Oct - Belfast, Stiff Kitten €13.60
3 Oct - Dublin, Academy 2 €13.60
4 Oct - Liverpool, Masque £7.50
5 Oct - Morecambe, Library £8
7 Oct - London, The Scala £10
8 Oct - Brighton, Coalition £7.50
I have no idea why the Belfast show is in Euros, either. If you didn't catch the acceptance Speech from the show last night you can do so below. In the first clip they've helpfully edited out of much of Jools Holland being a complete tool.
Do likewise for Lauren Laverne's interview with the winner shortly afterwards.
