Stroking Alone: Casablancas to release solo album: Phrazes For The Young
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater July 14th, 2009

You remember The Strokes right? Yeah, those lank-haired NYC dudes from 2002. They played a KILLER role in the NEW ROCK REVOLUTION with bands like The White Stripes, The Von Bondies and...erm...The Datsuns?Neat. Is This It? was pretty good though, right?

Well, their members aren't dead or in stasis, they're still around. One was knocking about with Laura Hollins (it's a good name, Agy) and another was releasing a solo album.

Now frontman Julian Casablancas - the mumbly singer one - is joining his bandmates Nikolai 'Nickel Eye' Fraiture and Albert 'The Organ' Hammond Jr. in releasing his own solo record. It's called Phrazes For The Young and is out this autumn on Rough Trade. Song titles include 'Glass' and 'Ludlow St.'.

We're not sure if this is the official artwork or not, but we think each extension of Julain's face is meant to represent a string to his burgeoning bow.

Julian Casablancas Solo

Work has been done in the last twelve months, across studios in Nebraska, Los Angeles and New York. Production duties were shared unequally between Jason Lader and Mike Mogis.

There's a little preview on his website but to save you the bother, we've gone and embedded it below for you. There's not much else of note on the website, so...

First thoughts? Ours are simply 'Stainless Style'.
