Those ever-industrious chaps at Baby-Tiger, Is This Music? and Carnegie Hall have announced the May-time line-up for TigerFest ‘08.
Focused around headline shows by Twilight Sad (pictured), Idlewild, Norman Blake and Paul Haig at Dunfermline’s Carnegie Hall, this cracking soiree of sweet songsmithery is accentuated by a number of ‘satellite’ gigs hosted in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh that contain the likes of Ulrich Schnauss, Caribou and the mighty A Hawk And A Hacksaw.
Says Tigerfest co-organiser Stuart McHugh: “This year many of the big acts are Scottish which reflects how strong music in Scotland is at the moment. We’re mixing up classic Scottish alternative acts with emerging acts we like and believe our audiences will also appreciate – a cross pollination of bands and audiences if you like.”
He continues: “[Tigerfest] still retains its 'indie' roots, partly because the budget is rather far off T in the Park levels and capacities are likewise quite small for convincing booking agents, but it’s a credible event to play, as evidenced by this year's line-up. It's all very non-corporate and non-biz like – I hope it comes across that way. As our marketing guy says: ‘our mission statement is... not to have one’.”
