Reading/Leeds: Weather Forecast & Updates
mfish by Michael Fishtival August 23rd, 2005
Dear Drowned in Sound readers,
my name is Michael Fishtival and I'm allegedly a weatherman at the Met. Office in Central Aberystwyth. I'd like to take this rare public outing as an opportunity to impart my current knowledge of the weather forecast for this weekend's Reading & Leeds festivals, as well as a smidgen of new news and five bands that you simply must investigate.

Weather Forecasts

Reading Site
Thursday: Light Showers; Hi: 18C, Low: 10C
Friday: Sunny; Hi: 20C, Low: 12C
Saturday: Sunny; Hi: 21C, Low: 12C
Sunday: Sunny; Hi: 22C, Low: 12C
Monday: Light Showers; Hi: 20C, Low: 11C
Brief Forecast: It appears that following the spells of rain that have been plaguing Berkshire for a few weeks now, the showers will subside to pave the way for very comfortable, dry weather for the bulk of the festival. However, the ground may be sodden and therefore, bringing a pink towel with some pretty patterns on is highly recommended.

Leeds Site
Thursday: Light Showers; Hi: 15C, Low: 10C
Friday: Sunny; Hi: 18C, Low: 9C
Saturday: Sunny; Hi: 21C, Low: 13C
Sunday: Sunny; Hi: 22C, Low: 14C
Monday: Cloudy; Hi: 21C, Low: 10C
Brief Forecast: The Leeds site will prove to be slightly warmer toward the end of the festival weekend, it will however slightly more rain than Reading during the Wednesday and Thursday. It is advisable to bring some Wellington Boots on this count, preferably with the image of Postman Pat or Barbie screen-printed to the side.

News Updates

The Error in Movies event on Saturday night in Leeds has been boosted by the news that Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies have confirmed that they will be backing Saul Williams for a track during his set. The piece which will be improvised on the night should hopefully make for one of the most memorable sections of the festival.

Test Icicles have confirmed they will be replacing Dresden Dolls on the Carling Stage on the Friday in Leeds and Sunday in Reading. Talking to DiS earlier, band member Dev said, "we're gonna bring out the pyrotechnics and fireworks for this weekend...i'm also gonna be bringing my titty cam, so ladies get ready. 3-2-1... BACK THE FUCK UP!!"

Michael Fishtival's Top Five New Bands to Check Out

As one of the most respected musical knowledge fountains in the Aberystwyth branch of the Meterological Office, I see myself as fit to offer you the following five bands for your new listening pleasure.

1. Komakino
2. iForward, Russia!
3. Test Icicles
4. Two Gallants
5. iLiKETRAiNS
(Leeds only)

See you there!
