25 Songs To Prepare You For The Great Escape 2014
25 Songs To Prepare You For The Great Escape 2014
sean by Sean Adams February 27th, 2014

Oh we do like to watch band's beside the seaside... Each May, for the past 8 years Drowned in Sound and 1000s of you have done just that down at the multi-venue bandageddon that is The Great Escape festival in Brighton.

This week another 150 acts have been added to the bill, which already had 100 acts confirmed on it and there are still another 100 names to added in the run up to the event. The thought of so much music is as daunting as it is thrilling. However, looking at the bigger names, we're leaning toward the latter.

England's south coast will be treated to a line-up featuring the likes of DiS favourites Wild Beasts, These New Puritans, Jon Hopkins, Kelis and Phantogram, as well as new bands we love such as two-time single of the weeker's Woman's Hour, the rambunctious Femme, the wonderfully named Nordic genre-shredders Deathcrush, and ANTI's haunting new signing Broken Twin; plus the much talked about likes of Charli XCX, Courtney Barnett, Augustines, East India Youth and Ella Eyre. The full line-up is below or you can click through profiles for the acts and hear their SoundCloud/YouTube tracks, on the Great Escape website.

Great Escape's mix of names you love and acts you're intrigued to see, is bolstered by an 'international showcase' element to the festival, which brings a whole host of extra new names to these shores to give the music business - including festival bookers from across Europe, American journalists, Canadian indie label types, French publishers and loads more - a taste of their tunes. Even to people who work in music full-time, the humungous line-up can be an overwhelming beast to decipher, let alone decide who to see, so in the run-up to the multi-venue event in May, DiS will be compiling a series of playlists to slowly introduce you to the bill (which once again will include a DiS-curated evening, which we can't announce that just yet, but we can confirm at least two of the names in bold above will be playing our stage).

Here are the 150 names added to the bill this week.
