This, the debut single from London girl band Manic Cough (okay, the drummer’s a boy, but in girl band law that’s allowed, right?), is awash with proper DIY punk-rock allure.
On title track 'Lips and Hips', Annie’s vocals sweep around the bouncy, shouty melody like she’s been gargling with Jack Daniels; whilst sounding sweet as bourbon and coke, she also conveys just the slightest hint that at any minute she could light a mouthful to spit at your skinny boy ass, should it not be shaking to the track’s frenetic, life-affirming Girls in the Garage charms.
B-side 'Spooky' continues in pretty much the same vein, but with some added Toyah shrieking just for good measure.
Brilliant.
Sounds good to me
I especially like There U R on their My Space page.
The joke came out wrong.
I failed. Y'hear?
I'm pretty sure
you should shut up now.
