Recorded to the marvellously artful 27:00 minutes precisely, this split release collaboration between the mellow, female-led trio 27* and atmospheric metal collective *Twin Zero has the makings for the inter-Atlantic chill-out session of all time.
Featured are two songs from the Boston trio's forthcoming release, Holding On For Brighter Days, and two tracks from Twin Zero's January release, Monolith, played acoustically, complete with piano accompaniment. However, these openers are not the highlight. The fifth and final offering of '0027'is a mindful and elongated foray into gentle, rhythmic rumblings and sharp, definite vocals. However, it is just a remix of the previous four tracks rather than a true collaboration between the two parties. Let this not detract too much, though, from the quite remarkable and dramatic nature of the song as it builds and builds from placid murmurs to a thunderous finale - a truly memorable climax.
While both bands' various facets brought together have created a soothing and majestic alliance here, hearing both of these wonderful bands separately does ultimately give a more complete understanding of their music.

Sounds well worth getting, anyway. I was pretty much sold when I heard about this on 27's mailing list anyway.
