Southampton-based trio Xavier Floyd Firebird don’t half know how to write catchy hooks. So catchy, in fact, you’ll be cursing them for the rest of the week following a single listen to this, their debut release.
Clocking in at under three minutes, this riotous number has formed the centrepiece of their live set over the past few months. Sounding like the bonus track from Graham Coxon’s ‘Happiness In Magazines’, the song is built around a heavily repeated chorus, growing in intensity throughout with simplistic, but oh-so-effective backing vocals.
It ends before you’ve had a chance to digest fully the splendour of the pop song that’s just steamrollered through your headphones. Now, if only I could shake that tune - a quick listen to 'Woo Hoo' should do the trick...
