Back from a summer activities camp (Charlotte learnt DIY album making) just in time to support the Darkness and spread general Christmas cheer, Ash also knock off another single from their slightly underwhelming 'Meltdown' record.
Such is Tim Wheeler's way with a cheeky chorus, so often does he offer up molten gold, that you can forgive us for occasionally turning a semi-deaf ear to yet another Ash offering churning up the radio waves. Nothing personal Tim, it's just that... we're sure that there's another gem along the way from you soon, maybe one without cock-rock work-outs and overworked verses.
The acoustic album should be a treat though.

Holy shit, these guys are still around?
Ash - Renegade Cavalcade
No shit. They only had one of the most publicised albums of the year.

I gave Meltdown another listen last night. It's not brilliant, but it's better than my first few disappointed listens where, back in May.
I'm not sure what it is, but it just lacks something, lacks oomph. It's neither as breakneck as 1977, or as genuinely joyful as Free All Angels, but it lacks the weight behind it to make it a heavy record, which seems to be what they where intending.

What is this acoustic album? Is it new tracks or just acoustic versions of old ones? When is it out? Can I think of any more questions?
Ash - Renegade Cavalcade
I still like Ash, i actually saw them when they were a three piece back in 1996(sometimes wish they were still a three piece). Charlotte looks like a session musican a lot of the time. The tunes are still there, but i haven't seen them in a long time.
Re: Ash - Renegade Cavalcade
Supposedly they're going to be putting out a stop-gap acoustic album next year, while they slog themselves around the US. They said they had a bunch of songs that weren't suitable for Meltdown, but that they wanted to put out all the same.
Re: Ash - Renegade Cavalcade
Really looking forward to hearing this. I loved Meltdown, but it'll be good to hear the other side of them get a bit of attention too. They've not disappointed me yet!
Re: Ash - Renegade Cavalcade
Meltdown is one of my favourite albums this year, however this song is the low point for me cos its shit.
