In today’s world of short attention spans along with that damned 'Next Big Thing' label being bandied about willy-nilly, it seems like bands are being branded as amazing before they've even had the chance to be heard.
And into this media feeding frenzy enter Elefant, yet another NYC band plucked from that city's clublife and transplanted right into your stereo.
’Gallery Girl’, is their 3-song application for a position in this swirling morass of wannabe cool rock stars. With references that mix **Joy Division, and 'Leisure'-era **Blur, Elefant have a sound that's as big as the animal from which they (almost) take their name.
Its true that the two B-sides - 'Annie' and 'Bokkie' - hit harder than the eponymous single, but that said, Elefant show a lot of promise here. Maybe, just maybe, in time they may just snag that job as Your New Favourite Band.
