Luck & Neat

Irie

Label:

swijetilleka by Sajini Wijetilleka April 29th, 2002

A hypnotic-organic wall of sound washes over the listener, as MC Neat starts chanting the mantra, 'this will make you feel Irie, Irie', to get the crowd excited. And thus he commands your attention, proclaming his tune will make you feel 'Irie', the Jamaican slang for ravingly happy.

The dub-style basslines kick in with a punch, and Neat's rapping becomes the more familiar garage MC freestyle, seen in his previous outings. He delivers the lines with extra paucity, clearly enunciated and drawing you in. At the same time, DJ Luck is working you up, with frenetic beats and Latino squiggles, similar to their previous hit, the excellent 'Piano Loco'. And just as it was getting really good, this single had to end.
