I like Little Hell.
They're just so much FUN. Thrashy, fire-siren guitars and raging chipmunk vox. Drumkits in need of counselling after each song. Songs that are essentially catchy 3 minute pop tunes, but unshaven, on a 7-day bender and fucked hard against a carpark wall.
Messed up, but still cute, basically.
If there's anything I don't like about this album, it's the production, which is a bit too tinny to pack the same kind of punch the songs do live. But that may be simple teething pains, and you can adjust your stereo for that, to a degree.
There's not much variation on the theme of "RAAAR" (and who says there always has to be?) until final track 'You're all I've got in this lousy world'. Suddenly things go all sweet and keyboard, albeit with the same razorblade vocals.
Just when you sit there thinking "Awww...", distorted, deranged whispers sizzle into view: _"You can't be saved. You won't be saved. You can't be saved. You won't be saved."_ they promise for 50 seconds...ok, forget what I said before.
I Love Little Hell!
