john grant returns and this time without midlake, but with biggi veira from icelandic dance pioneers, gus gus in the production chair and with sinead o'connor appearing as a guest vocalist. together they have created a truly unique set which we are sure no one expected, full of late night anthems, strings, swearing and magic. it's part dancefloor and part singer / songwriter. take the track 'black belt' for instance. a dark and warped disco thumper driven by a solid analogue bass line that could destroy any dancefloor. then you get 'gmf' which flips the coin and finds grant in full dennis wilson mode - a balearic laurel canyon 70's gem.

John Grant - Pale Green Ghosts

Review by John Watt

There's the occasional dud, and occasional dull moment, but Pale Green Ghosts mostly succeeds in expanding John Grant's musical palette, and his wry, knowing observations and lyricism remain as sharp as ever. »
