Search on Spotifyst vincent, the nom de plume of annie clark, releases the first single to be taken from her long-awaited sophomore album 'actor'. the writing process for 'actor' was certainly an idiosyncratic one. annie clark took to immersing herself in some of her favourite films - 'badlands', 'pierrot le fou', 'the wizard of oz', 'stardust memories', 'sleeping beauty' - and then beginning each song as a secret film score. the resulting eleven tracks combine the fantasy of disney, the sweep of morricone, david mamet's unsettling dramatic form and the alienation of philip roth. 'actor out of work', one of many highlights from 'actor', is a devastating sonic kiss-off, complete with slyly poisonous lyrics and steamrolling guitars. less than two and a half minutes in duration it is as deliciously succinct in delivery and comes backed with an exclusive track 'bicycle'. limited 7" on 4ad.....release date: 20/04/2009
