Festival update: Reading sells out, V adds names and Iceland expands

All tickets for this year's Reading leg of the Carling Weekend (27-29th August) have now sold out - both day and weekend passes. There are however, a small number of tickets for the Leeds site.

However, we here at Drowned in Sound will be giving away a pair of passes to each of the venues in the coming weeks, so maybe you'll still get lucky, eh?

Taking place a week before, the V Festival in Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire, have announced that R'n B queen of the moment, Kelis, will be performing, starting with a Saturday appearance down south and the following day in the Midlands.

Also added to the V bill are Kevin Mark Trail, Fried, Rooster and Rodrigo Y Gabriela.

Day tickets for both locations are still available.

In the autumn, the Iceland Airwaves Festival takes place in.. yes, Iceland. Joining Keane, The Stills, Radio 4, The Shins and Magnet on the bill will be the newly announced To Rococo Rot, Non Phixion, London Elektricity and Worm Is Green.

Across the hemisphere, the Livid Festival in Australia has been cancelled this year, citing a lack of available headline acts. Which, looking at the festivals around Europe this summer, isn't an entirely untrue statement.

I don't think the festivals are that bad this year, and I guess they do fluctuate in quality, as the same bands seem to play the same festivals. And anyway I guess a lot of the festival experience is just being there and enjoying the atmosphere.

i think the v lineup is good. headliners including faithless, the strokes, pixies and muse. glasto would have done well to have had them lot

The canceling of Livid absolutely devestates me. Well & truly.

I actually welled up when I heard.

It's my favourite festival of the ENTIRE year.

I think the truth of it actually being cancelled is because they put the tickets up to over $100 last year & noone really wants to pay that much when only 3 years ago they were about $70. Huge difference, especialyl consider the headliners were no where near as good...
