Comets, Alamos and more - Nottingham DiS gets hot and heavy for July
This Saturday, DiS does Nottingham, with 65DaysofStatic-style shards of comets, some stuff with the grace of Muse and something to do with American politik.
We don't believe in searching through the Phillips Atlas of Great Britain trying to find the best route to some remote part of Dorset or Cumbria whilst wading through mud and turds. In this year of GlastNObury, festivals are out and clubs are in, oh yes, and in July we've got the bill to make you keep that tent locked in the attic for another twelve months.
On offer next month are:
…FROM THE SHARDS OF COMETS!
“Imagine 65 Days Of Static sharing a room with Brian Eno for a fortnight and this would be the result”

ALAMOS (pictured)
“Alamos have a blatant buzz of energy about them, the kind of vigour that can only be found in a collection of friends who possess the same passion”
(Drowned In Sound)

twentysixfeet
“…switches from Matt Bellamy-style croons to Jesus Lizard-like shrieks both enthral and confuse, while the music builds to sci-fi destruction, exploding like the sound of a thousand computers violently crashing”

IMMUNE
“Snapping drums and complex melodies are interlaced in the same way as Oceansize do, but the whole process is more relaxed and seems less forced”

We also have numerous guest DJs throughout the evening including Choi (Silhouettes Of Soldiers), Dave (The Exploits Of Elaine/Jones Of Colorado) and The Thirty5 as well as the usual Drowned-In-Soundsystem (Dom and Jordan) spinning discs, breaking records and generally falling over each other to get to the bar and back.
Date: Saturday 15th July.
Venue: The Social, Pelham Street, Nottingham.
Doors: 7pm til 11.30pm (first band on 7.30pm).
Admission: £3 advance tickets, £4 NUS/flyer, £5 door.
