Welsh nu-metal types Lostprophets return with a new single next month. 'Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)' is released via Visible Noise on June 19th. The title suggests someone has been listening to Refused, non?
The single is taken from the band's forthcoming album, Liberation Transmission. Due for release on June 26th, the record is the follow-up to 2004's top-five long-player, Start Something, which sold over half-a-million copies in the UK.

tour is like
sold out nearly. ish
.
The new single is actually laughable. Really, really poor. I'm not a massive fan like, but there were a couple of decent tracks on fake sound of progress, but this offering...
...could do better lads.
I saw the video to this yesterday
I really had to resist the temptation to shout 'BUT YOU'RE WELSH!' at the screen on more than one occasion, so much did it look like an American production.
...
bloody awful aint it?
the video is funny as well, moody emo types doing very little and wearing gloves.
deep like the ocean.
i like how
their image has completely converted to emo all of a sudden. guess they realised the market has changed. twats.
everyone
should be pleased that they are listening to Refused.
do you reckon you could try and convince some of their fans that Refused are copying LP, and are just trying to rip them off to get "famous"? maybe.
..
theyve always said in interviews ive read that they are all fashion tarts, so i cant be too judgemental of the image but the music is just gettin worse and worse.
bad show i say.
I know someone who
snuck bacstage at a lost prophets gig, put the bands bananas up thier arse, pissed in thier water and stole thier hair straighteners.
They were chased for about 5 mins before getting beaten up and forced to give back the straighteners! ha ha.
Hope they went back and ate a well deserved banana.
!
The new single is shockingly bad, I was hoping it'd be something mindless but rockin' like some of the previous stuff, but it's really really cr'p.
damn
thought they had gone.... :(
I think theyre alright
The new single is pretty inoffensive really. But the fact that all of their new stuff is based around liberation frequency makes me sick. No way are they cool enuff to pull off anything slightly connected to refused.
Is that greg as in
my cousin's boyfriend greg?
If so, hello.
What's worse
Liking LP when they were trying to be linkin park or now where they're trying to be refused?
cos on one hand, it's shit that they're giving post-hardcore a bad name, but being worse than what's already awful is pretty spectacular
i can't believe
what utter bandwagon-jumping, posing fruitcakes they look in the new video. bearing in mind i expect nothing less from them, i think the fact that they have shocked me is an achievement.
actually
i've not heard anything from the new album, but that blog is a good put down to all the "you're so emo now" rubbish.
i didn't really dig 'start something' but i do remember having a chat with the singer and one of the guitarists outside the corporation in sheffield a few months after fake sound of progress had come out (before it was picked up by sony) and they both clearly had a broad musical knowledge and were aware of all the bands on the post-hardcore, emo, indie-rock scene back then so i'm sure they've known all about Refused for years.
ps. since when were Refused post-hardcore? hardcore or progressive hardcore sure - but post-hardcore? you're having a laugh!
Either
that is a fake myspace page, or they're a bunch of fucking idiots...
I prefer to think the latter.
I suggest
looking at the picture comments on their myspace profile for a bit of a laugh. It seems all the emo kids are shocked and appalled by the fact the band now wear skinny Dior ties and military jackets. And the fact that the one who used to wear trucker caps and play wood-effect PRSs covered with Stussy stickers now rocks a Tele and looks like someone out of Franz Ferdinand. Whoever said it wasn't all about the music?
Are you not allowed...
to go off in a strop if a complete stranger starts slagging you off for no apparent reason?
I like these guys, they make fun if not boundary pushing or technically amazing music...
owned
such an image change, such bad songs, is it any wonder we live in such a cynical world?
...
To be honest I was laughing at the 'fans' more than the band. I've never come across a group of people so utterly obsessed with image. As for the band, I can't be arsed to get annoyed about their existence. I actually find it pretty funny that they so shamelessly manipulate their image upon the release of a every album - they're like some kind of precision-made demographic wet dream. Just look at the picture that goes along with this article and compare it to how they look now.
TheirSpace
Seriously. One person in that tirade of "i love you!!!!"s said they didn't like the single. To be honest if I was in a band I'd be embarrassed if my fans put so many exclamation marks after things.
i went on lunch
with a girl i used to work with a few years ago and she was sitting in o'neills in cardiff with this fella. after about half hour he told me he was in Lost Prophets.
didnt mean anything to me at all...i knew who they were at the time but couldnt care less. he was tellingme how he had been to the playboy mansion and met dr dre...seemed an ok kid
i only liked one song they did and that was that 'last summer'
and if
you said that to me i'd break your face for being a racist cunt.
so be glad he just walked away.
and i'd prob punch you in the face too.
