Koreans: US To Keep Them In Their Mind
The BPI has teamed up with British Underground, PPL and Trade Partners UK to put on
a showcase of British bands at CMJ in New York on Saturday
October 25. The bands lined up to play are Clearlake, Bolton's Kinesis and the DiS-loving, Camberwell-based The Koreans. They will all be performing as part of the College Music Journal (CMJ) Music Marathon (October 22-26), an annual festival attracting thousands of delegates from the US college radio circuit and international music industry.
In addition, BPI and British Underground are putting out a sampler CD of UK acts who are performing during the CMJ festival. Endorsed by the NME, the compilation, titled ‘sUK On This’, will be produced for the CMJ delegate bags to profile the UK presence at the event with only 7,000 copies being made.
It is hoped that this event will raise the profile of these British bands. Earlier in the year at SXSW in Austin, The Darkness and British Sea Power hit Texas to rave reviews.
