What, more free stuff for you, oh readers sweet and sexy? Oh heck yes: this very evening, Ontario's great sextet The Most Serene Republic bring the sounds of their DiS-approved to the tune of a near-perfect 9/10 score album Underwater Cinematographer to the Barfly, London. AND YOU CAN BE THERE, GRATIS!
Thanks to the lovely people over at City Slang, we've a pair of tickets, collectable on the door, to give away. All you, prospective winner, need do is answer this question:
The Republic of Ireland failed to qualify for this summer's World Cup Finals, sadly, but which of the following nations is ranked THE LOWEST going in to the last-32 competition...*
A) Angola?
B) Trinidad and Tobago?
C) Australia?
Sendeth your answer to mike.diver@drownedinsound.com ASAP, writing "Most Serene Competition" in the subject line. Please leave a telephone number that I can reach you on; the winner will be contacted around 6pm. Please ensure that you can make the show before entering!
Doors open at 7.30pm, and DrownedinSound DJs will keep you entertained, hopefully, before the bands (TMSR are supported by ace Chemikal Underground rockers De Rosa) swing into action.
Even if you don't get lucky on the winning front, tickets for this special gig are still available for six pounds advance, from here.
*Disclaimer: this is based on information from November 2005; more recent ranking tables may have a different nation as the lowest-ranked of the 32 teams. However, if you pick the lowest-ranked of these three teams, the answer will still be correct as the potential banana-skin team is not one of the listed three.
Wow! You've read this far? Cool... now you can be rewarded with the super-special bonus. Say you know nothing about football, but want to enter... no problem! Just send an e-mail with your contact number to the address above, with the same subject line, and you'll be entered into the hat all the same. Question's a bit tricky y'see, innit. So much so that all the answers so far have been WRONG!

The Most Serene Republice
Mr. Lif
Battles
and Silver Jews
Its gotta be the Jews though...
Mr Lif...
any good?
Def Jux innit. Few people have been aying good things but my ears remain empty...
add
Brakes to that list for me too
bah
Woops.
Mr. Lif is tomorrow at 93 ft. east
He's on Def Jux, the album to get is I Phantom, its definatly a landmark hip-hop album. His lyrics are political without being preachy (Jels new album anyone?) or simple sloganeering, and his flow switches between agressive and that smooth old school style.
Download: Return of The B-Boy.
Latterman, too.
I really am far too broke.
