Believe it or not, we do listen to you folks out there, especially when you ask us to do things which sound like a fun challenge. Lots of people have asked why we don't do a printed magazine, with all our best bits, so we've only gone and put one together.
And after weeks of hassling people to advertise, write or send us piccies, we've just got in the finished mountain of mags with festival guides, all the best album reviews from the site this year, so far (none of the big ones you can read about anywhere, mind) and loads more besides.
#1 of the Drowned in Sound Mag features 20 tabloid-sized pages crammed full of record reviews, interviews and festival previews, covering the likes of Truck Festival, Reading/Leeds, The Darkness, Evan Dando, Postal Service, Fountains of Wayne, Four Tet, Magnet, Ben Lee, Donna's, Alkaline Trio, British Sea Power, Everett True tells how to get into music journalism, Wichita talk through running a label and there's TONS more...
If you would like a copy, it's totally free, send either a Stamped Self-Addressed-A4 Envelope or two first class stamps and your address (plus any records you think we should hear, sweets and badges), to: Drowned in Sound Mag, 40 Crisp Road, Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire, RG9 2HG [doing it like this else we'd have to spend hundreds of quids on postage]
The Mag will also be available at all DiS Nights (including next Mondays label launch @ the Spitz), Truck Festival, with orders from SwagShop and selected venues and shops across the UK. We've not totally worked out how to post huge piles of magazines yet, but we're gonna sort that out, right, er, now..... PDF version will be online later this week!
PSSST! #2 will be out in September with student guides, interviews with Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes / Desaparacidos), Cat Power, Funeral For a Friend, Tony Willson (Factory Records/24Hr Party People), Biffy Clyro, Cooper Temple Clause and loads more. Watch this space. If you'd like to advertise contact: advertise@drownedinsound.com.
