The Bronx have revealed details of their second album - which like their first will be a self-titled affair - to MTV.
The album will be their first for Island (their debut emerged in the UK through Wichita). Despite their high profile, the band told the music channel "We're still not really that good, but we're working on it".
The second record is mostly recorded live:
"It just gives a natural feel to things. We're definitely not fans of perfect records, and we strive to make imperfect records, I guess. Not imperfect, but stuff that has a little more soul, a little more feeling. It just gives it a flavor and makes it a little more interesting, I think."
The Bronx is due out on July 18th.

I'm torn between my love of the Bronx and my hatred of current day Island records and specially Nick Gatfield.
I'm just terrified...
...that this record's going to have no edge to it at all compared to their older output. Watching The Explosion lose all their bite and turn into Good Charlotte was painful enough.
I played Sick of Modern Art yesterday
Compare to Black Tape, or whatever the Explosion's last record was...
dear oh dear oh dear
Play the original version...
...of 'No Revolution' up against the version on 'Black Tape' and sigh.
"When major label influence fucks up your band pts. 1 - 145".
this band are the best punk band around
and if this new one has got the same mindset and energy as on the last album then this will truly special album - ive heard its even got latin parts on it
"The Bronx"
was my first "real" punk album. I was a harmless child and saw a good review. Literally couldn't believe how good that album was, it's special, but bare in mind I'd never heard anything like it. My descent into an underworld of conviction and losers who still win was fantastic.
i think...
the bronx are still trying to keep things as independent as possible with their 'social club' series of 7"s. lets hope the new record will share this spirit. i'm sure it will :D
So...
that new song on their Myspace page isn't very good.
Their first album is great, the fact that they recorded it live and within three takes really shows, it's soooo energetic. And recorded by one of Guns N Roses or some shit.
self-titled?
not only is this a complete waste of title-opportunity, but isn't it going to be a little confusing the same band having 2 self-titled albums?
Real punk?
Eh? Hardly! Talking to MTV, yet are a real punk band. That is a oxymoron in itself.
YES
real punk is NOFX, who refuse to speak to MTV to be "real punk" yet sound like busted. Make of it what you will.
recorded by
Gilby Clarke
except 3 tracks were done by Beau Burchill of Saosin "fame"
I love Saosin!
Weezer
had two s/t albums..Blue and Green. They just picked up nicknames.
