Here in true lazy journo style is the history of trash that Erol sent me for those who don't know what it is, etc....
London’s premier alternative nightclub Trash has been f*cking with heads, genre-bending, spotlighting new talent and shining like a beacon every Monday night for over five years now. Together its DJs Erol Alkan, James and Rory Phillips have shaped a soundtrack of weekday decadence, fun and excitement. This coupled with the participation brought by its weekly army of attendees, characters and overall sense of occasion each and every week make it a worthy choice for any self-respecting ace face. It has been lauded by the press, and spawned many a trash hit months before the world has woken up. Most of all it's loved by many, and remains firmly individual without having ever defaulted on its original gameplan.
Trash has also championed and showcased some of music’s most colourful and exciting new talent live, bands such as Stereo Total, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Rapture, Gold Chains, Gonzales Peaches, Soulwax, Bobby Conn and Zootwoman alongside cutting edge DJs like Tiga, Felix Da Housecat, Stuart Price (Jacques Lu Cont), Junior Sanchez, LCD Soundsystem to name but a few that have trodden the boards in some of their earliest, finest and most intimate shows/sets. This live spirit is captured in the first of the Trash companion albums, where six exclusive live tracks recorded at the clubs spiritual home at London’s End club, WC1, make up the first half of this record.
“TRASH hired me to do my tired old act whenever everybody else said I was washed up. I made an extra effort to freshen up my routines, even serenading an impossibly shy young lady named Anna. Apparently, the effort paid off, because the show received rave reviews. London loves me again. Now even my fiercest critics would agree that a venue of that size would be painfully embarrassing for an artist of my (newly found, thanks to TRASH) stature. Eat my dust!” Chilly Gonzales
“It was so god damn packed that the makeshift stage was the size of a coffee table, the bouncers stood in front of the stage at 7feet tall and Mignon and I had to climb on and over them throughout the show so that we get up close and personal on the crowd's ass.” Peaches
The second Companion will follow next year.
Trash is every Monday night at the End, West Central Street WC1. Be sure to dress for success.

Re: Trash: Companion cd 1
Its like the eighties all over again. People will laugh at these people soon. ITs like a Duran Duran video. Nu-new-nu-romantics or something.
Its not music club anymore. its a style club. It just happens to play the Strokes sometimes.
Gah.

Re: Trash: Companion cd 1
All I know, is that it seems a hangout for fashionista's who'll desert the place once they've been told to go somewhere else.
If you like the place for the music and like-minded people, cool; that's what it should be there for, and I'm glad you do, but I can't see past the 'image is everything' stuff that seems to go on. Although there isn't a huge amount of decent alternatives. Which is probably part of the problem. A DiS-co anyone?
oh, and for the record, been going to trash in its various incarnations for years etc, had good times yadda yadda and so forth.
"ya bore, snooze, elitist I was there first rubbish" (that's me by the way, not knocking you, Luke!)
