Remember those nice stamps which were put into circulation t'other week? The ones of classic album covers, which included Pink Floyd, Primal Scream, Blur, The Clash, New Order and a few others. Yeah, those ones. Ol' Jimmy P from Led Zep is up ^there^ posing with 'em.
To celebrate this wonderful development, we're giving away a whole HANDFUL (and then some) of great prizes, including the following:
- First and foremost, we have a signed copy of New Order's 1983 album, Power, Corruption & Lies for one lucky winner
- A signed CD copy of Screamadelica, by Primal Scream, of course
- A collection of all of those album cover stamps
- Double CD remastered edition of the aforementioned Power, Corruption & Lies
- New Order Live in Glasgow DVD
- Primal Scream Riot City Blues Tour DVD
- Framed Screamadelica album art
Which is a pretty exhaustive list. We certainly don't give stuff as wholesome as this away every day. So, you'd wanna win those things, right? Well, all you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is answer the below question in the comments section below. You'll need to be signed-up to the site to do so, though.
Q: The full list of commissioned stamps is below. Which album cover would you release as a stamp and, if you care, whyyyyyyy???
Only the very best/most amusing answers will be considered. So put a bit of effort into it. Unless you suggest something so bad that it's good. Y'know, that sort of thing. Imagination. Creativity. Progress!
Just so you don't duplicate an answer, look down there...
The Division Bell – Pink Floyd
A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay

With all the industrial action at Royal Mail, seeing a big moneybag staring back at the postman every time he delivers a letter would be sweet justice for them not delivering my Christmas shopping in time.

Motorhead - Ace of Spades
Because Lemmy is long overdue a knighthood, his dedication to not being part of any system has ironically made him something of a national institution, because that's something we love in this country. Putting Ace of Spades on a stamp would be a deserved recognition of Motorhead's influence and importance in popular music history, but moreover it would be a acknowledgement of a triumph for a rebellious spirit which on the surface a 'moral' society like ours would never accept, but in secret we all wish we had. Of course Lemmy would probably hate it, but that would simply underline how right the decision would be.
A Certain Ratio- Sextext
lush colours
Scorpions - Lovedrive
Can we say more than one? While Juicy Fruit is my favorite out of all album covers ever, I gotta mention this because it's hilarious. and Boobs. on a Stamp. This is a woman talking, BTW.
Depeche Mode - Violator
This cover made by Anton Corbijn (a great photographer and director) between 1989 and 1990 can appear simple but for me is a great piece of art.
The red rose is the symbol of the love and the passion.
And Depeche Mode... they are one of the best Uk band that play since 1980 and knowed all the world like an innovator band, first classify like a synth pop band then dark then rock.
It's so beautiful... you can't not be agree with me :D
