Metallica vs Napster: all is forgiven?
- Artists:
- Metallica »
Anti-internet rock behemoths Metallica have today taken a funny turn.
The band who famously were anti-Napster are now pleased to announce that none of that matters anymore. Today, the exclamation-laden Napster mailout reads thus:
"We have a very exciting announcement to make this week - Metallica's back catalogue is now available in full on Napster! ROCK!!!
...Metal Gods On Napster!
Metallica's catalogue is on Napster from today! Check out albums including Master Of Puppets, Metallica (The Black Album) and St. Anger from the biggest hard rock band in the world. Look out for Metallica's ninth studio album Death Magnetic out next month and a headline set at Reading/Leeds this weekend.
Nothing Else Matters
DiScuss: Dear people of the internet, do you forgive them now? With Napster going legit, is it them who look silly?

you have to buy off napster now right?
yep
although it's all you can eat
Ha!
Napster make it sound like they've "won" or converted Metallica or something. Sadly though, Napster is now just another waste of virtual space - a ground-breaking technology reined in and brought (or should I say bought) under the control of business men intent on restricting technological advancement by imposing old out-dated models of business on it.
At the end of the day, Metallica and their record label will be getting their money; they will not give a shit what the middleman is called.
piratebay
