Polaris Prize-nominated collective The Acorn, from Ottawa, have inked a UK deal with London-based indie Bella Union.
The Acorn is formed around core figure Rolf Klausener, and their Glory Hope Mountain is on the longlist for the Canadian version of our Mercury Prize. The album - out in their native Canada already - will receive an official UK release on October 20.
From the horse's mouth:
"The Acorn produce a unique brand of experimental, popular folk music that effortlessly marries modern and traditional forms. To check out their sublime, rhythmic sounds, click to their MySpace page."

Perfect Home
For them, can't wait to see them in sept
You Bella You Bet
Yes, I've just had a listen, and I reckon they will fit in very well at Bella Union.
Picked this up in canada last year
and fell in love.
Thats why we got them to play the End of the Road Showcase at SXSW (and according to some they were second best show at the whole thing apart from Bon Iver). Also they will be playing the Garden stage at End of the Road in September when they tour (also supporting Akron/ Family for that nice acorn/ akron headline....)
Fair play to Bella Union for picking them up- i'd have loved to do the record myself, but i know they will do a good job- looks like they are 'label of the year' this year....
