Iceland Airwaves confirms first few bands

CSS - singer Lovefoxxx pictured - are among the first batch of acts confirmed for this year's Iceland Airwaves festival, held in Reykjavik on October 15-19.

Also on the bill for the annual city-wide festival:

Florence & The Machine, Handsome Furs, Simian Mobile Disco, Miracle Fortress, Final Fantasy, Robots In Disguise, Gus Gus, White Lies, Junior Boys, Crystal Castles, Young Knives and many more from home and abroad.

I saw CSS on Sunday

and they were piss poor. They don't sound like a band that have been playing/touring together for as long as they have. More like they've spent a week trying to learn the songs before going out on stage.

Anyone knows where I can find cheap tickets?

The cheapest I found was for £220.. is that about right??

yeh icelandair do ticket accomodation combo

its slightly cheaper to go with icelandexpress and book accomodation separatly

Holiday?

I have heard rave reviews about Airwaves and missed out last year. Definitely looking into it for 2008 - did anyone combine it with a holiday to Iceland last year? I guess the words holiday and iceland might sound odd to some, especially in the winter but am curious.. What else can we see in a week?

well

you can do the golden circle tour in a day from reykjavik, which is geyser and gullfoss.

and during the day at airwaves there are loads of performances in record shops etc.

to be honest, i'd recommend going to iceland seperately to the trip to airwaves if you want to do it properly and hire a car, as everything good is miles away from reykjavik.
