As announced in the DiS office two minutes ago, there’s going to be a new Primal Scream album out this summer.
“Those words will echo forever”.
Indeed. Beautiful Future is out on the 21st of July and probably won’t be anywhere near as good as XTRMNTR.
A single – ‘Can’t Go Back_’ – will beat it out by a week on the 14th of July.
No tracklisting to report just yet, though CSS** girl Lovefoxxx does guest on one ditty entitled ‘I Love to Hurt (You Love to be Hurt)’.
Other titles confirmed include ‘Zombie Man’, ‘_Uptown’ and the title track.

I heard the single this morning on the radio
didn't like it.
Why don't they just give up?
I wish
They'd fuck off and shut up.
I hope it's like XTRMNTR
and not that blues rock shite they've been peddling recently
it's not
and it's shit (and I'm a very disappointed fan)
"Beautiful Future"?
"I Love To Hurt (You Love To Be Hurt)"?
Bleurgh. You used to mean something.
Dirty Heat was recent-ish
and that was good.
BOMB BOMB! BOMB THE - er, Rise! Rise!
i keep hearing
loads of bits in other bands songs post xtrmntr that are direct robs/'heavily influnced by''s....reckon its been more influential than perhaps given credit for...dunno though, and i s'pose primal scream are the kings of that themselves....
and yeah..
everything since has been godawful x
Evil Heat
not Dirty Heat, but that sounds kinda good as well. That album had it's moments, like Deep Hit Of Morning Sun, Skull X, Detroit, Scanner Darkly and that. Riot City Blues was a bit of a joke and now this new single. Fuck me it's a big big let down. Thank God they've got Screamadelica, Vanishing Point & XTRMNTR in their catalogue, 3 solid gold classics that make me remember why I loved them in the first place.
^^
albert_swearengen: best DiS name ever
^^thanks^^
do I win a prize?
Yeah he had, Mani joined 2 albums before at Vanishing Point. I reckon Bob is the one to blame for RCB what with his penchant for rock n roll cliche "high energy rock n rol MC5, New York Dolls blah de blah" - except it doesn't sound like that mate.
New single is more of an XTRMNTR/Evil Heat vibe but with all the danger and energy sucked out only to be replaced with Killers style synths and the whiff of "please let us have a hit" about it all.
Evil Heat
That was it's name!
mani has been in the band since
the days of Vanishing Point.
Other guests include:
Linda Thompson and Josh Homme.
Single produced by Paul Epworth. Lp by Björn Yttling. Wonder how many of you would think that sounds shit if it wasn't Primal Scream??
RCB was not their best, but why not listen to the LP rather than just Country Girl and tell me it's shit. 'When the bomb drops', 'Sometimes I feel so lonely'. Both stunning.
New single's good not great (after 2 listens)
Primal Scream are still this countries greatest rock 'n roll band. Name me one better?
well i dunno...
The Rolling Stones?
possibly not the greatest..
..but certainly consistently worth listening to and one of the greatest live bands you'll ever see. Personally I've liked every phase of their career, even the much maligned 'give out...'
Vanishing Point was their zenith,
very closely followed by XTRMNTR.
I don't know
PS are kinda like your weird uncle - you love them bt they keep embarassing you
I love XTRMNTR, but I can't stand Screamadelica
I like Vanishing Point but I feel the urge to run away everytime I hear Rocks
Bobby is busy modelling
for Uniqlo, the fucking prostitute. Everyone's a prostitute these days.
^^
rather that than being the same old same old. 25 years is a long while to be around so why not try on a few hats. I like hats. I doff mine to some of the genius sounds they've put out.
i reckon
i guess having spent many years 'keepin it real', not doing TOTP and all that they now feel like they are in their twilight years and want to cash in and use 'come together' in phone ads and make safe music that appeals to a wider market and who can bLAME them
