Indie label of some repute Captains Of Industry is closing its doors today after five years in the business.
To 'celebrate' its anniversary, the label is calling time and quitting - some might say while it's ahead with releases by An Emergency, Hell Is For Heroes, The Sound Explosion and Peace Burial At Sea in its past.
In 2003 the self-funded label's key movers 'n' shakers, among them journalist Ben Myers, set out a five-year plan. Now, they say, the circle is complete.
A book imprint will carry the Captains Of Industry name now the label has closed. Artists to have released through the label are:
21 Gun Salute, An Emergency, Blood Valley, Coyote Men, Future Ex Wife, Favez, Gay for Johnny Depp, The Grates, Hell Is For Heroes, Illegal Movers, Kinesis, Letrix, Louie, Marmadule Duke, Minus, Peace Burial At Sea, Silicon Vultures, The Sound Explosion, Sucioperro, TEAM, We Will Be Pilots

This Week's Singles by The Lipster: 16/03/09
ahh, a shame
I've had some great stuff from this label, and they always had a fantastic attitude.
I'll miss them.
sad times
they'll be missed
A great attitude indeed
A shame it has to end but there's something great about setting out a 5-year plan and sticking to it
ditto
they released some awesome stuff... obviously hifh, but i'll also not forget the first time i heard an emergency either.
damn shame
Any ideas on the new Marmaduke Duke album...will it ever see the light of day?
Maybe it'll get
squeezed out on on a major?
this is an interesting point
I'd forgotten about Marmaduke. Hmmmm.
who knows?
Well, we tried and tried to get the album out but Biffy's new label were unco-operative to say the least. We will still put it out if we can (read: are allowed to!)
i was...
litterally about to click "pay now" in paypal for a cd via their site (it's still fully accessible via google) before reading this news. i guess £4 for an album was too good to be true :o( Damn my laziness in picking up the Kinesis album... have emailed them to see if they'd still ship anyway. there's hope yet...
woohoo
ben just replied saying they'd ship stuff if ordered asap. not sure how long that stands for, but get those cheap albums fast!
