DrownedinSound came perilously close to parting with £41.33 – a whole three days wages – five minutes ago and for what? Six pieces of 7” vinyl. Good vinyl, though, with songs on them by popular entertainers No Age, Abe Vigoda (pictured) and Sunset Rubdown among others.
Perhaps you’d like to subscribe to the offer what I couldn’t afford – click to add David Horvitz’ 7” picture disc series, which also features contributions from Mika Miko Casiotone for the Painfully Alone and Parenthetical Girls, to your cart at Aagoo Records.
As their name suggests, each one of the bi-monthly releases will feature a photograph of the band taken by Xiu Xiu-associate Horvitz, reports Pitchfork.com. Limited to 500 copies, a number of those will be reserved for subscribers, while the rest will find their way through various trade routes to dim, dank record shops and venue merch tables. Rejoice, release schedule below.
Out now:
Casiotone for the Painfully Alone
A - ‘Old Panda Days’ [feat. No Kids’ Nick Krgovich]
B - ‘Lesley Gore on the TAMI Show ’ [feat. Jenny Herbinson]
Out in May:
Parenthetical Girls
A – ‘GUT Symmetries’ [remix]
B – ‘Joan of Arc (Maid of Orleans)’ [OMD cover]
After:
July - Abe Vigoda
September - Mika Miko
November - Sunset Rubdown
January ’09 - No Age

ooh
i have the first five of these already. they're all a bit lovely.
I got the Casiotone tone one
from the man Horvitz himself. With a set of photographs, newspaper advertisement and a sachet of lichee black tea.
Wonderful.
Looking forward to the Sunset Rubdown, No Age and Mika Miko discs.
i don't think it's that bad?
i mean, its a fiver a seven inch and 13 quid for the postage of them all from the states to the UK, and presumably one at a time as each one is released. it's more than i'd ever sell a 7" for, but it's not extortionate.
also, why can't music be an art object? music is an artform!
hmmmm...you might be right
you might just
