Music man ‘shitting himself’ ahead of new shows

The Music will continue their return to the live scene by moving their ‘Four Cities’ tour up to the next rung.
The band have been playing increasingly larger venues in London, Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow in a bid to get match fit for the size of crowd they were playing to around the time of their last album Welcome to the North’s release in 2004.
“The main idea was to give ourselves a chance, ‘cause getting back on stage again's been quite daunting,” frontman Robert Harvey told NME.com.
“Personally I’ve been shitting myself, ‘cause I’m a different person to what I was when we used to play, you know, I don’t do the same things, I look different.”
Just how different?
Dates:
April
15 London ICA
16 Leeds Cockpit
18 Glasgow Stereo
19 Manchester Moho Live
May
13 London ULU
14 Leeds Metropolitan University
16 Manchester Academy 2
17 Glasgow QMU
“I’m still buzzing now,” continued an increasingly anxious-sounding Harvey. “I’m pacing up and down the living room all the time. It were great.
“We haven’t toured like this for maybe three years – the last three years have been about getting confidence back and getting an album together that’s worth releasing. We’re back where we fucking belong.”
That album looks set to arrive in June.

Will Haven: The return of the prodigal sons
Weirdly I was wondering what happened to the Music earlier.
I was never a fan, mind. The backstory sounds pretty interesting. Does anyone know why they've had no confidence for three years?
because...
they went for the big time with their second album with a 'rock' sound tried to crack america and be the next U2 but failed miserably and ended up losing their british fanbase that always saw them as a new verve/stome roses type band i think.
i thought the earlt ep's showed promise, i liked the artwork and song titles. then the album came out and it was a bit rubbish (with a couple of good tunes).
He's always had confidence issues hasn't he?
I vividly remember reading an article in the NME around the time of 'Welcome To The North' about how they had to quit their US tour or something cos they couldn't hack it, and he started crying in the interview. Weird, and it's a shame cos I quite liked them at the tim.
Saw them in Manchester on Friday
they were really good, the new stuff sounded mostly good and it was great hearing the older stuff again- the crowd reaction was brilliant. Good to have them back.
I can't wait for the new album
I've just in the past few days listened again to The Music and Welcome To The North.
Both fantastic records.
I don't think I've seen John Earls on Planet Sounds so excited about a band's return before, either.
the first album
was barn stormingly good and I still dust it off and play it now and again. In contrast highly disappointing second album which has been played hardly ever as it is nowhere near as good.
