Klaxons have declared that they will not be joining the rest of the world’s bands on the slog that is the festival circuit this summer, instead holing up to concentrate on their new album.
The follow-up to last year’s Myths of the Near Future was recorded in part with Tony Visconti (David Bowie) in Berlin last month, and, if the band’s earlier schedule is to be believed, they are now working with hip-hop producer Focus on another set of tracks.
"We're not doing any festivals this summer," said James Righton; "We're doing one in Brazil, apart from that, literally, we're just going to spend the time writing and recording. From now until October we're just going to be writing and recording the album.
“Slow down, y'know? We're not going to rush it, that's the main thing I think." Righton continued to explain to BBC 6 Music. “I think a lot of bands can give themselves two or three weeks to write and record an album, but we want to do a bit of recording, have a bit of a break, come back to it, be a bit more objective about it, and then start again."
“I mean it's just got to be better than the first you know? So we need a bit of time to do it, and now we've got it.”
The album is tentatively pencilled in for a release in the autumn.

I'm pretty sure
this was reported months ago elsewhere.
Yup - in the NME
But still - sensible boys.
They can spend as much time as they want on it...
but it'll still end up gash.
I think the one on the left
has ricketts
This is a bit good news/bad news isn't it?
The bad news is we've had to cut off both your legs, the good news is the bloke in the bed next to you wants to buy your slippers.
hahahah
amazing
I don't have a huge opinion either way on this band
But it will be interesting to see how they fair on album 2 after having the whole NME hype machine thing. time will tell.
"We're not doing any festivals this summer,"
"We're doing one in Brazil,"
Isn't point A kind of lost with point B?
i'm not really
bothered about this news however if it means they're not at any european festivals (which i have gathered is the Main idea) then i'm happy
