Watch: Saul Williams does U2, bloodily

The official video to Saul Williams' faithful cover of U2's 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' has found its way into the public eye.

The song - taken from Williams' latest LP 'The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust' - clearly exhibits the influence of producer Trent Reznor. Blessing? Curse? Video:

Download Niggy Tardust from here. In other news, Williams has just been confirmed to play at the Explosions in the Sky-curated ATP, which runs from the 16th 'til the 18th of May.

'tis a horrid thing,

guvnor.

Is it just me

Or is this really REALLY shit?

its not just you

this is really bad

it's bad

so very very bad.

i like it.

thank god

you've got sarky in your name...

:(

Definitely a Curse.

aural rape.

My opinion

It's absolutely brilliant.

err

The parts where the original takes a step up this one is flat. Not the worst cover i've heard, U2's helter Skleter is bad.

Maybe because

I don't have any particular affections for the original and I really like most of Trent's work I'm leaning towards this one too.

Either way, I think it's ace.

I like it

And I'm pretty sure that video has Johnny from The Wire in it!

Why? WHY?

Some things should just be left well alone, including songs such as this...

Also, what's the relevance to him covering this song?

Surprised, really. I thought the dude had some cred.

LEAVE IT ALONE.

I got in about 54 seconds and had to turn it off at work. Might revisit. Might not.

im surprised.

Hes made the song like a million times better.

And

it was a real highlight on "niggy....."

which shows how shit it is

come on, how can anyone whose username references House Of Leaves have such shit taste?

He is shit

I've tried it live I've tried it on record he just doesn't float my boat, too dull too preachy and too generic.

I don't quite see the "Trent Reznor" influence on the video, being that there is no NIN video style as such, they're all very different.

The album the song is from was produced by Trent Reznor

and is very different from Saul Williams S/T album and the one before it. I like the video for this song, it has a good message but am not too keen on the music.

Since when

has it been cool to hang out with Trent Reznor. Okay it's not quite Rivers Cuomo and Thora Birch appearing in Limp Bizkit videos, but it doesn't fill me with glee either.
