blimey...I used to live near Blaenau Ffestiniog, and from what I recall, it was basically a village amidst giant piles of discarded slate, where you didn't really go if you were English, cos you'd probably get twatted.
Can't imagine that there are many venues there. Wanting to play that area shows an admirable dedication to being welsh. Roll over Meic Stevens!
it also has
a MASSIVE drug problem due to the fact that daylight is obscured by the piles of slate/slag.
If you can't speak welsh I advise going there. (I can speak welsh).
Dwi hefyd yn siarad Cymraeg
in fact, my great-Grandpa Hughes lived in Blaenau for a while. He moved there to work the slate before heading down to work in the south somewhere.

You DO advise going there if you don't speak welsh, or is that a typo?
oh yeah
what i meant was... if you can't speak welsh I don't advise going there.
Shouldn't that be 'dw i'n siarad cymraeg hefyd'? or is it personal preference.
It is quite a cool little place though, just a bit grey. well, very grey. and if you go there you can combine it with a trip the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth. A good day out for ALL the family
personal preference
although my grammer is a bit appalling so I may be wrong.
My welsh
is restricted to 'Bore Da' and that was the name of a Euros album! I'd... er... better avoid that gig then.

ohh how things have changed!!
Time has moved on and now electric has also been discoverd in the mountains!!
But on a serious note, blaenau is dubed as the capital of welsh langauge music in wales, it has more bands than sheep these days. Also it has 6 English siging bands and they have'nt been twatted at all for being English...ohh my how times have chnaged!
yeah it has drugs, but where has'nt these days, you need a balance of good and bad to create a vibrant community.... every body needs to free their minds at some point and it just happens to be that creative people are genaraly more likeley to get high than straight people....
The Town has an annual festival 'car gwyllt' which has staged many forms of artist outside Wales such as the dub reggae bands Nucleus Roots and Mocking Birds from Ireland.
Blaenau is music.....music is Blaneau..
