Free at Fopp this week: RAT:ATT:AGG, Cut Off Your Hands, An Emergency
Do you rememember the first time? We do. And the second. And the third. This will be our fourth free-entry gig at London's flagship Fopp store, on Tottenham Court Road - while it wasn't quite third time lucky t'other week, this promises to be a beauty and no mistake.
Playing live for free, for you, this Thursday we have the following excellently rocking bands:
RAT:ATT:AGG (some members, pictured)
MySpace
London-based purveyors of wickedly wayward indie-rock, a la something you think you heard in a nightmare once but were too afraid to remember fully in case the monsters really did rise up from under your bed. The fact: RAT:ATT:AGG are four people that play music. There used to be five of them. They have an album out soon. The fiction: is almost certainly more fun!
AN EMERGENCY
MySpace
A traditional indie-punk trio on paper, albeit without a bassist, An Emergency are super-catchy in the flesh; expect body parts you never knew you had convulse to the Exeter-based band’s infectiously hook-riddled take on everything itchy and scratchy. Dance is what they’ll make you do, in short; expect to be powerless before them.
CUT OFF YOUR HANDS
MySpace
They’ve come all the way from New Zealand to play a free show just for us… Only, not really: this quartet, formerly known as Shaky Hands, is likely to tick all the boxes on the charts of those with affections aimed the way of Les Savy Fav and their Frenchkiss offspring and a slight penchant for everything The Cure-related. They’re hella fun and boisterously brain-rattling, perfect music for a party – get ready to sweat.
