Festival-centric website FestivalNews.co.uk has reported the leaked line-up for this summer's Glastonbury Festival.
To our eyes, though, there appear to be too many 'big' names here, too many potential headliners. Unless Glastonbury is running eight or nine large stages at the same time, we're struggling to imagine how this not-so-little lot will fit in. But, here's what we've heard, anyway...
Adjagas, Amy Winehouse, Annuals, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Babyshambles, Beirut, Billy Bragg, Björk, Bloc Party, Bright Eyes, Chas N Dave, Chemical Brothers (pictured), Chumbawamba, Corinne Bailey Rae, Credence Clearwater Revival, CSS, Cud, Damian Marley, Damien Rice, Dirty Pretty Things, Dr Meaker, Editors, Enter Shikari, Fatboy Slim, Feluka, Fionn Regan, Ghost Cat, Glastonbury Town Band, Hot Chip, Jamie T, Joss Stone, Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs, Klaxons, Kubichek!, Larrikin Love, Lily Allen, Liz Green, Madness, Manic Street Preachers, Mark Lanegan, Mika, Paul Weller, Pete Doherty (solo), Seth Lakeman, Shirley Bassey, Smokey Robinson, Steve Earle, Super Furry Animals, The Earlies, The Epstein, The Good The Bad And The Queen, The Grim Northern Social, The Fratellis, The Killers, The Kooks, The New Pornographers, The Rakes, The Rumble Strips, The Stooges, The Twang, The View, The Waterboys, The Who, The Wurzels, The Young Knives, Three Daft Monkeys, Tunng
See what we're saying? Tickets for this year's three-day event, held in June, have already sold out.
- Björk - Bastards
- Open'er 2012: Penderecki's violin revolution in Poland
- DiS' Favourite Albums of 2011: 49-21
- Nordic Music Prize 2011 shortlist announced
- Nordic Sounds #1 - Backwards and Forwards
- Watch: Björk performs 'Thunderbolt' live
- Spotifriday #112: Bjork, Burial, Mozart, SBTRKT, Laurel Halo, Ryan Adams...
- Interview: Bjork talks piracy, punk, Lady Gaga and Biophilia
Blimey
yet another echo on the news column.
Surely someone at DIS can come up with a news story that hasn't already appeared in the forums.
Can't say
i agree that there are too many headliners.
The Who and Arctic Monkeys and Fatboy Slim and maybe Bjork seem the only genuinely 'worthy' headliners here.
Chemical Bro's, Manic's, Kaiser's and Killers should all be headlining the Other Stage at best.
Lily Allen, Winehouse, Super Furry's, Bloc are not headliners.
Oh i don't fucking know, it's not a very good headline line up however you look at it.
Mika...
Hmm, any news on weapon searches this year? Long range ones allowed maybe?
¦
you're a leak.
sorry, i'm bored...
that looks about right
i know at least one other band that are 100% definitely playing but aren't on there though, so maybe it's not all correct!
well they did claim last year that
they didnt want it "headliner centric"
So what are they gonna do? Put everyone on at the same time?
Fat Boy Slim
headlining above the Kaisers or the KIllers? You sure, I mean it's not 1998...
missing
Maximo park are playing as well, but they're not on the list.
this isn't the line-up
it's just people who have self-confirmed, or been confirmed by eavis & co.
this is about 220 bands short of the actual line-up.
yeah
if you still worked here I'd tell you to sort it out!
Holy Fuck
...are also playing.
But bands really don't matter at Glastonbury - do they?
Revival
`!
as a music site...
..surely it's meant to cater for everyone and not just people who read the forums?
well OBVIOUSLY it's not the full line-up
silly billy.
THEY AREN'T PLAYING
I bet this whole CCR reunion thing stems from Eavis mentioning John Fogerty is playing in his usual mumbly unclear way (Eavis not fogerty) and the journalists taking it as him saying CCR were playing.
Compiled list of everybody-who-has-said-they're-playing leaks!
Doesn't quite have the same ring, does it?
good
cos i'm not going
Rubbish.
I'll see Doherty, Kasabian, Killers, possibly View and Kooks. But other than that, I'll be happy to linger around the tent if that's the best they can muster.
hehe
'I'll see Doherty, Kasabian, Killers, possibly View and Kooks'
Haha, they're the bands i would be nowhere near
Bjork is the best news i'd say, though i'm not going. Can't top 2003 IMO (radiohead, sigur ros, rem, mogwai, flaming lips etc), it is worth going for the festival itself though.
I thought
that Bright Eyes had been more or less banned forever from Glastonbury after Conor's outburst last time round?
This...
"Seriously, the bands are a minute part of the festival and if it's all you interested in, this may be the wrong place for you"
...is the reason I would never go to Glastonbury. If I wanted to spend 3 days tit high in mud and travellers I'd go to a field where there were some and hang around there for free. This whole "You go there for the vibe maaaaan" is bollocks.
If there were no bands playing and just stalls selling organic beetroot juice and legal highs you're saying that you'd still pay £stupid price? Balls.
shocker
so they've catered for the NME readers then...well done
Glastonbury was popular enough when there was good music
...though
it's well worth checking out the smaller stages im sure e.g. world music seems to be the place
seeing as it sells out in super fast forward magic time anyway
why not make the line up a nice surprise and not tell anyone until they get there?
hahaha
Pendulum! Just go to a club and see some proper drum and bass, not that kiwi clownstep bollocks.
i'm happy with...
Bjork
Manic Street Preachers
Holy Fuck
Arcade Fire
Bright Eyes
Super Furry Animals
Maximo Park
The Stooges
CSS
The Rakes
Mark Lanegan
Bloc Party
then whatever else is announced, the dance tent, world music, comedy, new bands tent for me.
And with ATP and Green Man, I'm a happy little boy this summer.
only those...
who give Towers of London 9/10 and The Smiths 0/10.
noooo
no i wouldn't say 'a bit shit' i'd say unique talent
nor can i...
...because even discussing TOL gives them too much credit.
I suggest you see more bands if only two have excited you.
...
giving them an acronym is too much credit also
If that's all you're bothered about
in the list above then this year's Glastonbury must be a bit alternative for you. Should have bought tickets to V instead...
I am happy with
The who
the stooges
madness
SFA
chas n dave
the worzels
the earlies
smokey robinson
creedence clearwater revival
Yuck
Those bracket bands are the worst bands ever.
why are you
all so nasty to each other?
"oh i like this band"
"haha. what an idiot, they're shit"
"well you gave this band 9/10, and they're shit"
why not:
"oh i like this band"
*hmmm i hate that band, i might insult them about it, or i might just leave them be and write something nice about something/body i like"
Can people who've never been to this festival
...refrain from passing judgment on it. Thanks.
are you avin a larf, is he avin a larf etc
"How can anyone say that the killers, kaisers and lily allen arent worthy of headliners?? "
Thats got to be a wind up yeah?
look at that lineup!!!
with the exception of Hot Chip, Mark L and Lilly Allen - utter shit.
Speaks volumes about the state of popular music in Britain
how dare you....
drunk antipodeans eh? Oxygen eh?...
Goo Goo Dolls - THE GOO GOO DOLLS!!!!!!! hahahaha!!! Mika!!!
have fun douchebag!!!
Angry Antipodean.
