Leading supermarket Tesco is to stop selling CD singles in its stores.
So what, you might think. But insiders say it's another nail in the physical single format's coffin, as currently Tesco sales amount to some 20% of all singles sales in the UK.
On the plus side, the move by Tesco should go some way to stopping novelty hits entering the top of the charts. Sadly, this doesn't cover Mika.
The chain will stop stocking singles from March 5, although it adds that one-off special event singles will be stocked on an ad-hoc basis. Charity releases and the like, then.
