Brandy sued for $50 million following car crash death

As we reported here only last week, US R'n'B singer Brandy was involved in a car accident at the end of 2006 that resulted in a death. News has now emerged that the victim's parents are looking to sue the singer for $50 million.
Awatef Aboudihaj, 38, died from impact injuries caused when Brandy's Land Rover struck her Honda on December 30. A lawsuit for wrongful death has been filed by her parents, Aboudihaj Ahmed and Labridi, at Los Angeles Superior Court.
Grammy-winner Brandy (Norwood), 27, is yet to comment, with a spokesman simply saying, "for legal reasons we cannot comment on this lawsuit". The California Highway Patrol had previously suggested that Brandy should be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.

very valid way of looking at it.
you could also say that because this artist is so rich, it requires a bigger sum to act as a punishment for her, as say, $5,000 is nothing but small change to her.
trying to get a massive sum from the death of a family member is pretty sick though, i can only hope they do something worthwhile with it, like forming a charity, or building a piano shaped pool...

Don't be daft
Obviously you can't put a price on a human life, and the sum does seem excessive even for someone who's minted, but surely they deserve something to make up for the fact they've lost a loved one? They're seeking both compensatory and punitive damages, which in itself seems fair enough.
